Deep Understanding of Shifting

Shifting usually requires adequate entry before the shift arrives either spontaneously or "by invitation". It is helpful if the entry has included "location". That way, asking shift questions can give you a reference place for checking if something changed. Subtle shifts are often only recognized in this way.

Shifts often need 3-5 minutes to take or settle in before you "know" that they are a carrying forward. During this time, objections, or self-criticism, can undo everything. If the shift gets the chance to settle in, insights will usually start to emerge. It is helpful to recognize them as such. After insights, new possibilities in the situation you were working on, often arise.

Many very experienced focusers have a rather vague notion of shifting. In this applied focusing session we will work to make the shifting process and its subphases, clearer. You will receive this experience both as a recipient of a session and as an observer. Understanding shifting better is not only helpful to you as a focuser, it is also helpful in listening. When you recognize insights after a shift and the new possibilities after the insights you listen at that point in a very different way.

3 Person 3 Hour (3p3h) Applied Focusing Sessions: $125.

In these workshops each person receives a 1:1 focusing session for 30 minutes. After each session there is discussion of the focusing process, not of the person, not of the content. You learn about focusing from experiencing it and seeing it 'in action'. To join this workshop, you can be at any level of focusing or you can be a novice.

A New Concept in Workshops
These workshops:
*emphasize individual attention
*form easily
*are adaptable
*can expand to 4person|4hour (4p4h) without changing the fee

To Form One of These Workshops:
1) find a friend who also wants one and call me and reserve a time for the workshop
2) Define your workshop a bit if you want. Defining can be as simple as "for therapists" or "for advanced focusers" or it can be a theme like "more focusing", "use of focusing with anxiety", "use of focusing with family issues", "use of focusing with depression", "changing the unchangeable", "advanced Clearing a Space", "focusing journaling".

By having a 2nd person already, you are assured of at least a 2 person/2 hour workshop. If you want others to join, often they will come with an announcement.

Share Focusing with a Friend
For someone new to focusing, these workshops are the best short introduction to focusing which I have found. Moreover, the format is very compatible with people from all different levels being mixed together. So bring a colleague or a friend and share focusing!
